Did You Know?
Did you know a diver is 1 minute from dying anytime he enters the water? Protect yourself from unnecessary lawsuits and time-consuming investigations with some simple rules to follow:
Request Proof of:
- Diver Certification and / or "Association of Diving Contractors, International" card certification.
- Verify contractor follows OSHA requirement Part 1910 Subpart T "Commercial Diving Operations"
- 1910.410 Uses a minimum - Qualified (3) person Dive Team (ask to see dive logs of each diver), Each member should be certified in First Aid and CPR, as well.
- 1910.420 Company should have a "Safe Practices" manual.
- 1910.421 Pre-Dive Procedures. Emergency Aid Call Out List, up to date First Aid Supplies.
- 1910.424 Scuba - only on a very limited basis
- 1910.430 Equipment Maintenance Log - i.e., Air Quality Test, Hat Maintenance Log
- Subpart J
- 1910.146 Permit-required confined space
- 1910.147 The control of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout)
- All insurance - General Liability, USH&L, Jones Act (if applicable), and Vehicle Insurance.
One way of saving time on these requests is to use a member in good standing with ADCI (Association of Diving Contractors International)
